Luis Garcia is Registered Patent Attorney admitted to practice in Florida. Mr. Garcia practices in the area of patent prosecution in support of the Firm’s Electrical and Computer Technology Practice Group. Mr. Garcia has over 10 years of patent experience encompassing various areas of Patent Law, including patent preparation and prosecution (both international and domestic), design patents (including computer-generated icons), infringement opinions, ex parte reexamination, patentability opinions, freedom to operate opinions, among other areas. Mr. Garcia counsels clients related to IP disputes and counsels inventors throughout the patent process.
Mr. Garcia has extensive patent preparation and prosecution experience in a wide range of subject matter areas, including wireless communications (including 3GPP standards), digital communications, internet of things (IoT), premises alarm systems, electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems, augmented reality devices, digital signal processing, cloud security management, data anonymization systems, anomaly detection systems, encryption systems, business methods, learning systems, medical devices, mechanical devices, rotary engines, gas turbines, construction systems, among other technologies.
Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Garcia worked at the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Examiner in the Optical Communications Art Unit. Mr. Garcia’s intellectual property experience also includes working as a Patent Analyst for Landon IP, a national intellectual property research firm.
A graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, Mr. Garcia holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University where he achieved Dean’s List status and served as a member of the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honor Society. He also holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.
