Dr. Katherine D. Koenig is a Registered Patent Attorney and member of the Florida Bar.  She holds an AV (Preeminent) peer rating by Martindale-Hubbell and a “Superb” rating by AVVO.  She is a past President of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Florida (IPLAF).


Dr. Koenig’s practice is devoted to all area of patent, trademark and copyright law, with a particular emphasis on patent matters relating to medical devices, life science, biotechnology, organic and inorganic chemistry, agriculture, plant varieties and plant sciences.


Katherine received a B. S., with Honors, as well as a D.P.M, from the University of Florida; and she was awarded her J.D. from the University of Hawai’i School of Law.  She is the author of “Epigenetics and the Patentability of Methylation Patterns in Japan,” 10 Asian-Pacific Law & Policy Journal.  She is a Member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Broward County Bar Association, a Member of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Florida (IPLAF), and a member of the Women in IP and Plant Biotechnology Committees of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), and is involved in local organizations including Friends of MODS (Museum of Discovery and Science) and Friends of Birch State Park.
